This Union Pacific Corporation $1000 Bond was issued in 1969. The Union Pacific Railroad Company was founded in 1862 under the Pacific Railroad Act of 1862. The company was formed to build the transcontinental railroad starting from Council Bluffs Iowa. The Union Pacific built westward while the Central Pacific Railroad Company built eastward from Sacramento California. Today the company is a freight railroad operating west of Chicago and New Orleans.
