This United Cigar-Whelan Store Corp Stock certificate was issued in the 1930s-40s.  The vignette features workers on a tobacco farm.  The United Cigar-Whelan Stores Corporation was started by the Whelan brothers in the 1920s as a chain of cigar stores which eventually expanded to sell other goods as well.  After several mergers and acquisitions, they were eventually purchased by publisher Martin Goodman who owned Marvel Comics.
