This Universal Oil Products Company Stock Certificate was issued in 1974. Founded in 1914 as the Standard Asphalt Company to develop technology for the oil refining industry. The developed what was known as the "Dubbs Process" which was a thermal cracking process and sold the patents to Shell Oil, Standard Oil, and Royal Dutch. They changed their name to UOP, Inc. in the 1970s and became part of of AlliedSignal.
