The Western Pacific Railroad company was formed in 1903 by George Jay Gould as the connection to the Pacific Coast for Gould's aspirational Gould Transcontinental System. the construction of the railway was funded by the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. The Western Pacific was one of the operators of the California Zephyr. In 1983 the Union Pacific purchased the Western Pacific Railroad. This bond certificate was issued in 1940s
