This Wisconsin Interurban System Gold Bond Certificate was issued in 1917 and is hand-signed by the company president J.E. Jones. All 40 coupons are still attached. The electric railway line was to run from Portage to Madison and then Janesville and Madison to Prairie du Sac by the way of Middleton. Their ownership was under the condition that if they failed to complete the majority of these lines, the railway system would revert ot the City of Madison. It's unclear if these line were ever fully completed.
