New York Stock Exchange Medallion – 1922 Solid Bronze, August Lukeman Design

Commemorating a milestone moment in stock exchange history is the 1922 NYSE Medallion. This scarce solid bronze medal marks the 130th anniversary of the New York Stock Exchange and the new Broad Street expansion of the iconic “Garage” addition.

In 1919, the NYSE purchased the property next door on the corner of Broad and Wall Street and began construction on the 23 story tower to compliment the original building of 1903. The new skyscraper increased the trading and office areas of the Exchange was nicknamed "The Garage". Trading in the Garage was conducted on the Western end increasing the number of trading posts to 29. The new addition also provided rooms for member and even a barber shop.

Designed by Augustus Lukeman, this collectible medallion captures both the NYSE Building and the new addition. The obverse, features a Federalist-era street scene under a buttonwood tree on the reverse.

This 1922 medallion showcases period-accurate craftsmanship by the Medallic Art Co. of NY, making it a distinguished piece for collectors, historians, and finance enthusiasts.
