Audi NSU Auto Union was formed in the 1930s but the Audi brand came to the forefront in the 1960s when Volkswagen and Daimler-Benz purchased the Auto Union and relaunched the brand. Audi was founded by August Horch and the company is based upon the latin translation of his last name which means "listen" in german. Audi famous four ring logo represents the four companies that merged together to form the Auto Union.

Audi has since become of the most well known and respected luxury car makers in the world.
