Description

This rare trade ticket was issued in 1933 by Bear Stearns & Co. for the sale of 100 shares to Steiner. This NYSE trade ticket features a state of New York and a Federal Internal Revenue stock transfer stamp on the front. Old trade ticket from Bear Stearns are very rare.

Bear Stearns was founded in 1923 and became a publicly traded company in 1985. They became one of the most respected and largest financial institutions in the world employing around 16,000 people worldwide. They were the 7th largest securities firm by assets. In 2007, their highly leveraged balanced sheet, which held many illiquid and nearly worthless assets, caught up with them as the subprime mortgage market collapsed. The Fed stepped in with a $25 billion bailout in 2008 to provide them with liquidity but then the deal was revoked. The Fed instead purchased $30 billion of Bear Stearns assets through an LLC and Bear would be purchased by JPMorgan for just $2 per share which was under 7% of what he company traded for just 2 days prior. Their stock peaked at $172 in 2007. Investors sued and the offer was changed to $10 per share. The failure of Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers had become synonymous with the Financial Crisis of 2008.

This one-of-a-kind trade ticket is presented in a gorgeous high quality acrylic display that weights over 1.5 lbs. Magnetically held together, the display is easy to open if want to inspect your item. Perfect for a desktop or bookshelf display.
