This lead replica gold bard was issue by John A. Kemper & Company in 1968 to commemorate their 10th year on the New York Stock Exchange.

The reverse of the bar:
"This is a lead replica of the gold bricks stored in the treasury at Fort Knox, Kentucky. This is a copy...If it were a real brick of solid gold the value would be approximately $531.89."

John A. Kemper & Co was a broker dealer in Dayton, Ohio. In 1973, the SEC issued an order revoking their registration and expelling the firm from the NASD and barring John A. Kemper from association with any broker-dealer. It was determined that the Kempers made false and misleading statements, regarding the profitable operations, financial condition, prospects, control and management of the partnership and the safety of use of the proceeds in the partnership and failed to comply with net capital requirements. Guess they should have invested in real gold!
