Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph would be come BellSouth based out of Atlanta, Georgia. It was one of the seven regional "Baby Bells" spun off of AT&T when they were broken up by the Justice Department in 1984. This ornate $1,000 bond from Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company was issued in 1947. It's a forty year 2 7/8% note due in 1987.
