This promissory note was signed by Connecticut Comptroller John Porter in 1798. It was issued to Uriah and Benjamin Hanks for Seventeen Dollars and Sixty Cents. John Porter was a Yale Graduate and Revolutionary War veteran before serving as Connecticut's Comptroller.
