Citroen was founded by Frenchman Andre Citroen. He got his start building armament during WWI but knowing the war would eventually end, he began to focus on building automobiles in 1916. The first Citroen rolled off the assembly line in 1919. That year, the company was almost sold to General Motors but the deal fell through. Over the years they produced both civilian and military vehicles. Citroen still make vehicles today and is now owned by Stellantis.
