Ready for a little collectible “floor tradition” fun? This Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) pinback button was
given out to promote soybean futures—a push meant to get traders excited about the new contract
and, hopefully, trading it that very day.
On the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the CBOT, giving floor traders a jacket button
became a tradition to commemorate the launch of new contracts, options, or significant exchange events.
Buttons were handed out that morning at the entrance to the trading floor, then worn proudly during the session.
