Description Extended Information

This very rare Enron Corp. Specimen Certificate features Ken Lay as Chairman of the board. This specimen Enron Certificate was printed in 1987. Rare find.

Enron is now the symbol of greed and mismanagement. Sure to become a collector's item, Enron stock certificates have become more difficult to obtain. Pre-framed in our black frame and black matte. Enron was an energy company based in Houston TX. In 2000 it claimed nearly a billion dollars in revenue but filed for bankruptcy in New York in late 2001. Enron was a world leader in electricity, natural gas, and pulp and paper. It was plagued with systemic accounting fraud which quickly became known as the “Enron Scandal”. - Wikipedia

Specimen stock certificates are certificates that were archived by printers and the company as perfect examples of the company’s stock issue. Specimen’s can be identified by their “specimen” stamp, stamped holes spelling “specimen”, or they are often issued with a serial number of a series of zeros. Often, they are also issued with no serial number at all. Specimens can also represent a design that was never issued. All of these attributes make the specimen stock certificate rarer than the issued version of the share. Many enthusiasts collect specimens as a whole new category of Scripophily.
