Juicero made the Juicero Press which sold expensive Juicers that originally sold for $699 and were reduced to $399 (what a bargain). With the Juicero they sold fruit, nut and veggie packs that ran from $5-7 which lasted for only a week. The Juicero would scan them before they could be used to verify they were not expired. It only worked with their proprietary packs. They came under fire when the press picked up on the fact that they could just as easily (if not better) be squeezed by hand as the $400 Juicero. Bloomberg even ran a segment showing that hand-squeezed packs were indistinguishable from the Juicero.

Juicero raised over $120 million. They sold an estimated 2-3000 Juiceros. Needless to say they went out of business and became the poster child for excessive Silicon Valley exuberance.
