New York Stock Exchange NYSE Solid Bronze Medallion – Building Facade & Bull/Bear (3")
Celebrate classic Wall Street with this New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) solid bronze medallion.
The obverse features the NYSE Building facade with the George Washington statue silhouette in front of the Exchange.
The reverse displays the famous Bull and Bear sculpture by Isidore Bonheur.
George Washington Statue & the NYSE “Good Luck” Tradition
Isidore Bonheur originally exhibited the combat piece at the Paris Salon of 1857.
At the NYSE, a prominent casting of the statue spent over 80 years inside the exclusive
Luncheon Club at 11 Wall Street (located within the NYSE building).
Traders reportedly rubbed the sculpture for good luck before heading to the trading floor.
When the luncheon club closed in 2006, the statue was moved to the
Museum of American Finance.
Bull & Bear by Isidore Bonheur
The reverse of this medallion highlights the iconic Bull and Bear sculpture associated with NYSE tradition—
a widely recognized symbol of the market’s upward and downward momentum.
Early Striking, Solid Bronze Craftsmanship
With its deep age tone and the lack of a date on the side, this medallion is best identified as an
early striking in solid bronze produced by the
Medallic Art Co.
