The Puerto Rico Electric power Authority, often known as PREPA is the government owned power generation and distribution company for the Island of Puerto Rico.  The company was formed in 1941 and has struggled financially since 2014.  During the hurricane seasons of 2017 and 2018 the islands power grid was almost completely destroyed.  The company struggled to restore power amidst various controversies such as the Whitefish Energy contract, a 300 Million dollar contract awarded to a company with just two employees.  Issued 1980s United State of America Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
