Tenneco Inc. was originally Tennessee Gas Transmission Company in 1943 which built a natural gas pipeline from Texas to West Virginia. The company eventually started buying failing businesses and worked to turn them around. In 1967 it bought Walker Inc., a manufacture of exhaust and muffler pipes, in the 1970's it bought JI Case now known as Case Corp. The company began spinning off it's holdings in the 1990's and today is primarily a manufacture of original and aftermarket auto parts. Tenneco is a Fortune 500 Company and is listed on the NYSE. This stock certificate was issued in the 1970s and features a nice vignette of oil fields and pipeline station.
