Description

This rare Smith Barney sign came out of a regional office in Florida from the 1980s. It's made of solid heavy-duty acrylic and measures 13" x 12". Fantastic piece of memorabilia from a legendary company.

Smith Barney was founded in 1873 and was one of the most respected investment firms in the U.S. They merged with Harris & Upham in 1975 to become Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co but were renamed Smith Barney, Inc. in the 1980s. Their catch phrase, "They make money the old fashioned way, they earn it." helped them become a household name. They merged with several firms over the years including Primerica, Shearson Lehman Brothers, Salomon Brothers and Citi. During the Financial Crisis of 2008, Citigroup received a federal bailout and decided to spin out Smith Barney. In 2009 Smith Barney merged with Morgan Stanley to become Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
