Founded in 1975, The Birmingham Vulcans were an American Football Team in Birmingham, Alabama. They were part of the Easter Division of the WFL - World Football League. The Vulcans were league champions prior to the WFL's collapse.

When the WFL ceased operations, they attempted to join the NFL in 1976. These efforts eventually failed. Two members of the Birmingham Vulcan would get inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. Johnny "Italian Stallion" Musso was inducted in 1989 and Larry Willingham was inducted in 2003.
