The Compaq Computer Corporation was once the largest supplier of personal computer systems in the world. Founded in 1982, they became the largest PC company in the 1990s. HP, under Carly Fiorina, purchased Compaq in 2002 and eventually the Compaq name was discontinued in 2013. The merger was narrowly approved by HP shareholders. The resulting merger narrowed margins and ultimately share price. Fiorina was removed as CEO by the Board in 2005. This Compaq Computer stock certificate was issued in 1999.
