This Marshall Field & Co Stock Certificate was issued in 1972. Through various partnerships and eventual buyout, Marshall Field namesake company became Marshall Field & Co in 1881. He became the wealthiest person in Chicago through the success of his department stores. As a philanthropist he funded the Field Museum of Natural History and donated the land for the University of Chicago. Marshall Field's became known as Macy's in 2006.
