This rare Chicago Board of Trade Member Ticket was issued in 1885 and is hand-signed by CBOT President E. Nelson Blake. Blake served as CBOT President in 1884 and 1885 and was the first President of the University of Chicago's Board. He was appointed to the Universities first Executive Board by J.D. Rockefeller in 1890.

The Membership was for John H. Jones who was an active and influential member for over 35 years. He was considered a "popular" member who contributed to the high commercial prestige of the Board of Trade. He served as a Director for three years and as Vice President for two years. He was a member of the Chicago Athletic Club and Glenview Golf Club and was one the "popular bachelors" of Western Chicago. - History of the Board of Trade of the City of Chicago edited by Charles H. This CBOT Membership Ticket was issued in 1885 and features an engraving of the new building on the back which would open later that year. It become the tallest building in Chicago at the time. President E. Nelson Blake would preside over the opening ceremonies.
