Description

This rare train ticket was issued to Clarence W. Barron on December 31, 1886. He took the Marion to New York route on the New York, Lake Erie and Western Railroad (The Erie Railroad). It was issued on the account "Press". Clarence W. Barron is largely considered the founder of modern financial journalism and was one of the most influential figures of Dow Jones & Company, the Wall Street Journal and Barron's Magazine.

Barron purchased Dow Jones & Company in 1903 after the death of founder Charles Dow. He was president until his death in 1928 and also controlled the Wall Street Journal and founded Barron's Magazine. All of these are still in circulation today.

Barron's connections throughout Wall Street were legendary and included icons such as Charles Schwab. His reporting also led to the arrest and conviction of Charles Ponzi, the inventor of the Ponzi Scheme.

This train ticket is presented in a gorgeous high quality acrylic display that weights almost 13 oz. Magnetically held together, the display is easy to open if you want to inspect your item. Perfect for a desktop or bookshelf display.
