Deere & Company is the famous maker of John Deere Tractors. The "Nothing Runs Like a Deere" slogan has been used by John Deere for over 150 years. John Deere, a blacksmith, began operating in 1837 as a one man operation making tools and then expanding into plows. Today, Deere & Company employs over 67,000 people worldwide.

This Specimen Bond Certificate is a rare find. Deere & Company stock certificates rarely come on the market, especially the specimens. The vignette features the founder, John Deere. 7.90% note issued in 1975 and due 1987.

Specimen stock certificates are certificates that were archived by printers and the company as perfect examples of the company’s stock issue. Specimen’s can be identified by their “specimen” stamp, stamped holes spelling “specimen”, or they are often issued with a serial number of a series of zeros. Often, they are also issued with no serial number at all. Specimens can also represent a design that was never issued.
