The Chase Manhattan Corp Stock Certificate features David Rockefeller as Chairman and the portrait of Salmon Chase in the vignette. Chase was formed in 1877 and named after former Treasury Secretary, Salmon Portland Chase (1808 - 1873). David Rockefeller served as an officer of the Chase Manhattan Bank from 1946 to 1981. He was President from 1961 until 1969 when he became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer until his retirement in 1981. Since that date he has been Chairman of the bank’s International Advisory Committee. Mr. Rockefeller has also been involved in numerous other business, cultural and educational organizations. Chase Manhattan Corporation merged with J.P. Morgan & Co. in 2000 and is now JP Morgan Chase & Co., one of the largest financial institutions in the world.
